Circus Lotti
The ‘circus Lotti’ is going full speed ahead. The only thing missing on this promo tour of ‘Time to Swing’ is the trapeze act. I feel as if I’m on a fancy fair. And I literally was in Vienna. Vienna was one of our first stops. The TV show where I was a guest, was recorded on the fancy fair. Three rounds on a go cart and then the interview that took place in a mirror tent. On one question I looked long and narrow, on the other answer small as a smurf and at one point it seemed as if I had a water head. Must be the Austrian sense of humour? Don’t get me wrong: becoming the Flemish Brad Pitt has never been my great ambition, due to, eh, my genetic characteristics, but I am pretty sure the measurements of my head mostly don’t deviate from the standard. After Vienna I returned to Brussels, where the American Ambassador and his wife started swinging along on my music during my official CD presentation. And on we go again, back on a plane in Zaventem. Because an interesting deal took place at my birth – okay, you won’t be Brad Pitt but you will be able to sleep on a plane – I am never really tired when flying. The minute we take off or start landing, I doze off. And that feels so good. I’m really pleased everything always goes well. And it has been like that for the twelve years we’re flying from here to there and back. Every time we have been very lucky. Besides the three times our luggage got lost, nothing serious ever happened. Only the many connecting flights tend to spoil it sometimes. As it is this time, because our flight to Leipzig has been delayed due to storm. And that might be a problem, because we have to be in Munich on time for a connection. Panic strikes because it seems we will miss that transfer. But the same storm that is keeping us on the ground, turns out to be our saviour. Also the flight Munich – Leipzig has been delayed. Again, everything turns out okay ! In short, everything goes well. During an autograph session in a shopping mall in Leipzig, fans insisted on bringing the entire new album during the upcoming concerts, because they like ‘Time to Swing’ so much. Actually, all I get are nice reactions. And then there also was the ‘Herbstfest der Volksmusik’ in Chemnitz. Before the eyes of six million Germans, I had to teach Sepp Maier, the legendary goal keeper of Mannschaft, a dance; I high-fived a sea lion and rewarded it with fish. As I told you: “Circus Lotti” is going full speed ahead. Now I just have to make sure I’ll catch the next plane. Lotti
